Discipleship Training Sarasota = Mission + Adventure

Hand to the Plow | Outpost is our local portion of the Body of Christ where the mission of the Kingdom and the adventure of walking with God collide! Christian discipleship training in Sarasota where, in essence, the mission calls for the adventure and the adventure becomes the mission.

  • Mission = Adventure

  • Heart for the world to disciple & equip

  • Revive. Evangelize. Disciple.

  • Bootcamp basics to battle ready

  • The adventure is always calling

  • Discipleship basics for the whole world

Hand to the Plow began in 1983 with a small group of people fellowshipping together with the vision to serve the people of Haiti. Established boots on the ground in Haiti and partnered with Sister Phyllis Newby, the vision of Plow enlarged through the years with our hearts compelled to disciple and equip believers for the mission field of the world. Recognizing the need for discipleship and discipline to be energized with the great adventure, we began to colloquially call our discipleship training of Hand to the Plow, “Outpost.”

Haiti Mission

Along with discipling, we remain steadfast in our love and support of Sister Phyllis and our Haiti mission. The compelling to disciple and equip Believers drives us to raise up a new generation of warriors in the Kingdom of God, taking them from “bootcamp basics to battle ready.” Our love for the adventure stirs us to reignite the joy of the adventure for seasoned and war-torn veterans of the faith.

Therefore, equipping disciples and reigniting the adventure of walking with God are the hallmarks and heart of Plow | Outpost.

Plow Trail Guides

At our Basecamp here at Plow, we know it takes the entire fellowship to make the journey happen. We’re all in this together. Over the years, Plow has been shaped by many faithful servants of God — and for that, we are deeply grateful! As the trail stretches out before us, a few serve as trail guides to help with day-to-day direction, but every person’s role is essential to the mission.

Leading us on the trail since 1983, Steve, together with his wife Linda, has been our lead adventurer and pastor, always looking ahead to see where God is leading next. Tami keeps our packs organized and ensures the resources are ready for every step of the way, ensuring the vision has what it needs to move forward. Rachel takes that vision and shapes it into a clear and practical picture we can follow. Jessa keeps us connected and communicating so no one is ever left behind. Luke brings the dream to life with sound, video, and technology — capturing the moments that tell the story. Karise turns the vision into a melody we can all sing together and carries our history like a torch for the next generation.

Like Jeremiah, we see the Lord setting forth like a traveler with His almond branch in hand — and we mean to follow!

It would be great to have you in our services in person! In our gatherings, we endeavor to be “organic” and allow the Spirit to lead us. You may experience times of worship or quiet reverence. At any time, there could be a literal sign or symbol used to illustrate a Kingdom teaching. No matter the course, we encourage you to come in anticipation of a personal encounter with Jesus. We do!

P.S. You can dress is casual; we literally meet in a barn on a private family ranch. Don’t worry – the cows stay outside! Click the links to the right to view “History, Meetings and More” and <strong>”At A Glance” to help you prepare for our services. Also, click the location arrow for directions.

The Adventure Is Calling!

As with any great adventurer, He doesn’t tell you where He’s going or how long it’ll take to get there. It is then and there you make the most important and most costly decision of your life.

And... YOU CHOOSE TO FOLLOW HIM!
